Adjunct Faculty, Education

Department: 211610 - Education Position Summary The Education Department seeks adjuncts in the areas of Early Childhood, Middle Level, and Secondary Education for both undergraduate and graduate courses. Candidates with expertise in special education/disability studies, literacy/ELA, math, and social justice in education are of special interest. We are also seeking certified educators to supervise student teachers in elementary, middle, and high schools. Essential Duties Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Education. Adjuncts can teach up to 9 credits of coursework or equivalent responsibilities. Courses are offered both day and evening. Supervisor responsibilities include no fewer than 4 observations, not including beginning, midterm, and final meetings with the student teacher and cooperating teacher. Travel to schools is required.

Required Qualifications

• Masters degree in the area of specialization.
• Three years K-12 teaching or relevant experience. Some positions may require a valid teaching certification.
• Ability to participate in professional learning communities facilitated by the Director of Placements and Partnerships and Chair of Education at La Salle. We will make every attempt to accommodate scheduling conflicts when necessary.
• Knowledge and commitment to the mission of La Salle University.

Candidates' qualifications will be evaluated based on the specific needs of the course or supervisory experience. Clearances and appropriate background checks will be required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. in the area of specialization.
• Experience teaching coursework in higher education contexts.

Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours Travel to La Salle and to schools using personal transportation.
