Complex Claims Consultant – D&O / Financial Institutions E&O Location: Remote/Flexible (Preferred: New York, Chicago, Hartford, or Boston) Industry: Insurance – Commercial / Specialty Lines Experience Level: Senior (5+ years)

About the Role

We are seeking a Complex Claims Consultant to manage high-exposure Public D&O and Financial Institutions E&O claims. This role is responsible for handling complex, multi-year claims involving significant financial and reputational risk, while partnering closely with internal stakeholders, external counsel, and clients. This is a highly visible position requiring deep technical expertise, strong analytical skills, and the ability to lead complex negotiations and litigation strategies.

Key Responsibilities

Manage an inventory of complex D&O and Financial Institutions E&O claims, including high-severity and multi-year exposures Evaluate coverage by interpreting policy language, collaborating with coverage counsel, and making sound business decisions Lead thorough investigations to assess liability, compensability, and damages Develop and execute comprehensive claim resolution strategies, including negotiation and litigation management Set, monitor, and adjust claim reserves in accordance with internal guidelines Partner with internal stakeholders, outside counsel, experts, and carriers to drive effective claim outcomes Manage litigation strategy, including oversight of defense counsel and legal budgets Identify opportunities for subrogation, salvage, and fraud detection Prepare and present executive-level summaries and recommendations for Senior leadership and clients

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; JD strongly preferred 5+ years of experience handling complex claims in:D&O Liability Financial Institutions E&O Professional Liability Strong expertise in:Coverage analysis and policy interpretation Complex litigation management High-stakes negotiations and settlements Experience working with outside counsel and multi-party claims environments Professional designations such as CPCU, RPLU, or similar are a plus Ideal Background Candidates typically come from: Commercial / specialty insurance carriers (AIG, Chubb, Zurich, AXA XL, Travelers, CNA) Reinsurance organizations Law firms specializing in securities litigation or insurance coverage Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Chicago, IL. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $36.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
