CPA / Fractional CFO Needed — Ecommerce Small Business (Colorado-Based Issues)

I have retail and ecommerce business based in Aurora, Colorado with ~6 years in operation. We sell collectibles across multiple channels including a Shopify online store, a physical retail location in Aurora, TikTok Shop, and PayPal. Annual online sales have crossed $1M. I need an experienced CPA or fractional CFO who understands ecommerce, multi-channel sales tax, and Colorado state tax, someone who can clean up a backlog of filings AND provide ongoing strategic guidance going forward. Immediate / Cleanup Work Needed: Federal tax returns: Current year, no return filed and no extension submitted (needs immediate attention). Prior year, extension filed but never completed. Additional prior years need to be assessed for any unfiled obligations Colorado retail sales tax notices: Active notices from the Colorado Department of Revenue for the Aurora store, need to reconcile Shopify sales tax data against state figures and resolve discrepancies Sales tax nexus review: Full review of national Shopify sales across all states to assess where we have economic nexus obligations ($100K / 200 transaction thresholds) Payroll tax audit: Recently moved contractors to W-2 employees via Gusto, outstanding payroll tax liabilities discovered during setup that need to be assessed and resolved Bookkeeping reconciliation: Currently using Finally as our primary bookkeeping service, with QuickBooks also in use, need to assess the state of both, consolidate, and clean up including reconciling a mixed personal/business credit card Sales Channels & Tax Context TikTok Shop: marketplace facilitator, likely remitting sales tax on our behalf (similar to Amazon) annual 1099-K issued PayPal annual 1099-K issued Shopify direct sales, sales tax configuration may need review nationally Physical Aurora store subject to Colorado/Aurora local sales tax (source of current notices) Ongoing Support Needed (After Cleanup) Once we're caught up, I'm looking for someone to stay on and provide: Proactive tax planning: I want to know before year-end what moves to make, not after Deduction and write-off strategy (business travel, product donations, charitable memberships, equipment, events) Spending strategy: advise on timing purchases to reduce tax liability Clean compliance calendar: federal, state, and local deadlines Strategic bookkeeping guidance going forward What I'm Looking For: CPA credentials required (not just an enrolled agent or bookkeeper) Experience with ecommerce businesses: multi-channel, Shopify, marketplace facilitators Familiarity with Colorado state and local sales tax (Aurora collects separately this is important) Experience with sales tax nexus analysis across multiple states Responsive and communicative, this is important to me Comfortable working with a small but growing business and providing strategic guidance, not just filing returns To Apply, Please Include: Your CPA license state(s) Experience with Colorado sales tax specifically Experience with ecommerce / Shopify / TikTok Shop or similar platforms How you would approach the cleanup work described above Your proposed fee structure (flat fee for cleanup preferred, then monthly retainer for ongoing) This is a long-term engagement opportunity for the right person.
