Data Analyst / SQL Specialist

We are looking for a strong Data Analyst / SQL Specialist to support our teams with one-off data reports, SQL query writing, and SQL query review across our internal platforms. This is a hands-on role for someone who is comfortable working directly with databases, understanding business questions, and turning them into accurate and reliable SQL outputs. We need someone pragmatic, detail-oriented, and able to work closely with technical, product, finance, CRM, and management stakeholders to provide clear and trustworthy data. Ownership is a key element of this role. We are not just looking for someone who can write queries on request, but for someone who can understand the context behind a report, challenge unclear requirements, validate the logic, identify risks in the data and help ensure that the numbers being used by the business are correct. What you will do

• Create one-off reports using SQL based on business and operational requests
• Translate reporting needs from management, product, finance, CRM, and operations into accurate data outputs
• Write, review, and improve SQL queries used in reports, dashboards, exports, and internal tools
• Analyze existing queries to identify issues such as incorrect joins, duplicate counting, wrong aggregations, missing filters, or inefficient logic
• Review slow or heavy queries and suggest improvements to performance and structure
• Help validate that reported numbers are accurate and aligned with business definitions
• Recommend improvements to query structure, indexes, views, or reporting approaches where relevant
• Document the logic behind important reports and recurring SQL queries
• Collaborate with developers and stakeholders to clarify requirements and edge cases
• Raise concerns early when data may be incomplete, misleading, or incorrectly interpreted

What we are looking for

• Strong SQL experience in production environments
• Ability to write, review, and optimize complex SQL queries
• Good understanding of joins, aggregations, subqueries, CTEs, indexes, and query execution logic
• Experience working with relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or similar
• Ability to understand business requirements and convert them into reliable data outputs
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies in data
• Good debugging and investigation skills when numbers do not match expectations
• Ability to explain query logic and findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Practical mindset with the ability to improve existing queries without overengineering
• Clear communication and a strong sense of ownership

Nice to have

• Experience with BI or reporting tools such as Metabase, Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or similar
• Experience working with Laravel/PHP-based applications or product databases
• Experience with finance, CRM, payments, user activity, gaming, or high-volume transactional data
• Understanding of database performance analysis and execution plans
• Ability to suggest improvements to reporting structures, not only individual queries
• Experience working with dashboards, exports, and recurring business reports

This role is a strong fit for someone who likes structure, cares about accuracy and wants to work with real business data rather than simply producing isolated queries. Salary range: €45,000 – €70,000 gross per year, depending on experience and seniority level.
