Our Company Dicalite Minerals Corporation is a growing international industrial minerals company with 16 facilities across North America and Europe. Operating through a fully integrated network of five mining complexes and twelve refining, processing and packaging facilities, the company has a unique multi-mineral platform that includes perlite, vermiculite and diatomaceous earth. Dicalite’s core business is selling wholesale products to blue chip customers such as US Gypsum, MP Materials, Sherwin Williams, Scotts Miracle-Gro, Cargill, numerous California wineries, 3M, and Nestle Purina, among others. Job Summary: The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Leader is a senior executive leader responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining a world-class EHS culture across all mining and manufacturing operations. This role provides strategic direction and hands-on leadership to ensure full compliance with MSHA, OSHA, EPA, environmental, and state regulations while driving continuous improvement in hazard prevention, environmental stewardship, risk management, and employee safety engagement. The EHS Leader partners closely with operations, engineering, HR, and executive leadership to embed environmental responsibility, health, and safety into every level of the organization, ensuring EHS is a core operational value. Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the company’s overall EHS vision, strategy, and performance goals for mining and manufacturing operations.
  • Champion a proactive, behavior-based culture focused on safety, environmental stewardship, hazard identification, prevention, and accountability.
  • Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, advising on EHS risk, regulatory exposure, sustainability initiatives, and operational readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, EPA, and all applicable federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Oversee environmental permitting, reporting, and compliance programs, including air, water, waste, and land management requirements.
  • Lead sustainability and environmental impact initiatives, including resource conservation, emissions reduction, and waste minimization efforts.
  • Oversee EHS audits, inspections, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Lead responses to regulatory investigations, citations, environmental incidents, and corrective action plans.
  • Establish standardized EHS programs, policies, and procedures across all sites.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation for both safety and environmental events.
  • Monitor leading and lagging EHS indicators and implement data-driven continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee contractor, visitor, and environmental compliance programs.
  • Design and implement company-wide EHS training and leadership development programs.
  • Promote employee engagement in EHS initiatives, including safety committees, environmental programs, and reporting systems.
  • Mentor site EHS leaders and ensure consistent execution of company standards.
  • Conduct enterprise-wide risk and environmental impact assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using industry best practices, benchmarking, and sustainability metrics.
  • Oversee emergency response planning, drills, crisis management, and environmental incident response protocols.
  • Lead and develop site EHS teams.
  • Collaborate with HR and Operations to develop and implement injury prevention, occupational health, and environmental compliance initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental health, environmental science, engineering, or related field (master’s preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in EHS within mining, heavy manufacturing, or industrial environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of MSHA, OSHA, and EPA regulations and enforcement practices.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to build and lead a strong EHS culture in multi-site operations.
  • Deep knowledge of environmental compliance, sustainability practices, risk assessment, and incident investigation.
  • Executive-level leadership, communication, and change management skills.
  • Ability to influence at all levels of the organization, from frontline employees to executive leadership.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage EHS data to drive decision-making.

Working Conditions:

  • Combination of corporate office and field environments including mines, plants, and industrial sites.
  • Requires site visits involving exposure to outdoor conditions, heavy equipment, and active production areas.
  • Travel is required 50% of the time.
