Life/Disability Financial Underwriter (contract)

This job posting is for a temporary contractor role as an employee of Atrium assigned to work at Humana. Role Summary The Disability Financial Underwriter will work with Short Term and Long Term Disability opportunities to prepare offers for prospective and renewal clients in the small and mid-market group segments. Providing appropriate rationale and support to Sales, clients, and other areas within the organization surrounding risk selection, financial analysis, rate computations, and financial activity. Provides expense estimates and accurate analysis of financial exhibits. Understands department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives, including their linkages to related areas. Makes decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and requires minimal direction and receives guidance where needed. Follows established guidelines/procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• Two or more years of Short Term and Long Term Disability underwriting and risk analysis experience
• Comprehensive understanding of risk pool management
• Knowledge of the competitor landscape
• Strong negotiation and communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
• Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
• Demonstrate high performance and accountability working in a remote work environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience analyzing disability and health-related data
• Industry-related coursework is preferred but not required

Additional Information

• Experience with Dental, Vision, and/or Life plans is beneficial

Pay Rate Range 45 - 48 USD hourly Additional Notes The individual selected for this role will be offered the role as an employee of Atrium; compensation, medical benefits, fringe benefits and other terms and conditions of employment shall be presented by Atrium upon offer. The pay rate range provided is a reasonable estimate of the anticipated compensation range for this job at the time of posting. The actual pay rate will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, location and/or being pursued and other job-related factors permitted by law. In addition, this role will be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements.
