Title: Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant - Jail Health (Part-time or Full-time) Location: Minneapolis, MN, United States Full-time or Part-time Onsite Job Description: In this role, it is necessary to demonstrate sensitivity, knowledge and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, gender, cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Hennepin Healthcare has a flexible part-time to full time (flexible up to 1.0 FTE) opportunity for a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to work in Jail Health Services Medical Clinic at Hennepin County Adult Detention Center. (Employees working at .5 FTE and above are eligible for full medical/dental benefits, as well as several additional prorated benefits if less than full-time.) Hours are primarily daytime weekday shifts but also include some remote on-call duties during evening and night shifts. Exact schedule TBD based on clinical needs and provider preference. This position is responsible for evaluation and treatment of patients with acute and chronic physical, mental health, and substance use conditions, medication reconciliation & management, and patient education & counseling within scope of practice and in collaboration with the supervising/collaborating physician. RESPONSIBILITIES Provide direct medical care to adult patients as part of an interdisciplinary team of nurses, mental health providers, social workers, and correctional staff in the jail setting Perform initial and ongoing assessment of patients' physical, mental health, and substance use conditions Obtain and evaluate health and medical history, perform physical exam, conduct preventive screening procedures based on age and history, identify medical and health risks Complete accurate and timely documentation of observations, interventions, plan of care, referrals and follow-up Formulate appropriate differential diagnosis based on history, and physical examination Identify needs of the individual and develop a plan of care and/or education plan Order, conduct, and interpret diagnostic tests, therapeutic treatments; may prescribe, administer and dispense therapeutic devices and medications Make appropriate referrals to other health professionals and community agencies Reassess and modify the plan as necessary to achieve medical and health goals Contribute to ongoing medical education teaching programs Support new and existing programs which expand the organization's role in the community Participate in performance improvement activities Adhere to template and productivity standards established by the department Work closely with interdisciplinary teams to provide the best care for the population served Respond timely to in-basket, forms, email, and paging communication regarding patient care Demonstrate respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment Perform other related duties but only after appropriate training MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Master's degree in Nursing or in Physician Assistant studies from an accredited program Current license (or eligibility) to practice as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant in the State of Minnesota Certification in the area of specialization by an agency authorized to certify professional nurses in Advanced Practice Knowledge of electronic medical documentation software/systems Experience working with a diverse and complex patient population PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 2-3 years experience as an NP or PA in general adult medicine/primary care, ED/urgent care or addiction medicine SALARY Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant pay is based on year of licensure and specialty area. The grid below represents current pay rates (rates adjusted annually in April) for this position: Compensation is based on year of licensure: Licensed 2023–2026: $64.40/hour ($133,952 annually) Licensed 2021–2022: $65.79/hour ($136,843 annually) Licensed 2019–2020: $69.25/hour ($144,040 annually) Licensed 2016–2018: $70.64/hour ($146,931 annually) Licensed 2011–2015: $72.71/hour ($151,237 annually) Licensed in 2010 or earlier: $74.79/hour ($155,563 annually) TOTAL REWARDS PACKAGE - PROVIDERS We offer a competitive compensation plan based on your skills and experience/training related to this position, and internal equity.
