Our client, a leading research institution at the forefront of biological discovery, is seeking a distinguished Principal Scientific Researcher specializing in Bioinformatics. This senior role is critical in designing and executing complex computational analyses of large-scale biological datasets, including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and epigenomics, to drive groundbreaking research initiatives. You will lead research projects, develop novel computational methods, and collaborate with experimental biologists to interpret data and uncover new biological insights. The ideal candidate possesses a profound understanding of biological systems, exceptional computational skills, and a proven ability to innovate within the field of bioinformatics, all within a fully remote work setting. Key Responsibilities: Lead the design and implementation of computational strategies for analyzing large and complex biological datasets. Develop and apply novel bioinformatics algorithms, pipelines, and software tools to address specific research questions. Interpret high-throughput sequencing data (e.g., WGS, WES, RNA-Seq) and other omics data to identify genetic variations, gene expression patterns, and regulatory mechanisms. Collaborate closely with experimental biologists, clinicians, and other researchers to define project goals and provide computational support. Manage bioinformatics workflows, ensure data integrity, and maintain robust documentation. Stay current with the latest advancements in bioinformatics, computational biology, genomics, and related fields. Publish research findings in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and present at international conferences. Mentor and train junior bioinformaticians and research staff. Contribute to grant writing and secure research funding. Oversee the maintenance and development of bioinformatics infrastructure and databases. Qualifications: Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Statistics, Genetics, or a related quantitative field. A minimum of 10 years of post-doctoral research experience in bioinformatics, with a strong publication record. Expertise in analyzing diverse omics data types (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, etc.) using a variety of computational tools and statistical methods. Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in bioinformatics, such as Python, R, and Perl. Experience with Unix/Linux environments and high-performance computing (HPC) clusters. Deep understanding of molecular biology, genetics, and relevant biological pathways. Proven ability to develop novel computational approaches and solve complex biological problems. Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills. Experience in managing research projects and mentoring junior scientists is essential. Experience with machine learning techniques applied to biological data is highly desirable. This is a fully remote position, offering exceptional flexibility.
