Remote Electrical Systems Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Remote Electrical Systems Engineer in RTP NC to support an organization within the electrical interconnect manufacturing industry with up to 30% travel in the U.S. The Electrical Systems Engineer role is ideal for a senior-level engineering professional with extensive experience designing and leading complex interconnect solutions that align customer requirements with business and manufacturing capabilities. Responsibilities of the Electrical Systems Engineer:

  • Own the end-to-end system architecture and technical roadmap for advanced electrical interconnect and cable backplane solutions.
  • Translate customer and business needs into system-level requirements with a focus on signal integrity, mechanical fit, thermal performance, and scalability.
  • Create and evaluate technical documentation including system specifications, engineering drawings, and prototype or proof-of-concept designs.
  • Serve as the technical liaison between OEM customers and manufacturing partners, ensuring alignment across design, production, and delivery.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance across cross-functional engineering, sales, and customer-facing teams.

Qualifications of the Electrical Systems Engineer:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or mechanical engineering required; master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in electronic and/or mechanical engineering with a focus on interconnecting or electromechanical systems.
  • Understanding interconnect architectures and how they support both internal business objectives and customer system designs.
  • Experience with CAD and modeling tools such as Pro/ENGINEER (Creo) or SolidWorks preferred.
  • Strong communication, customer service, and stakeholder engagement skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.

Compensation for the Electrical Systems Engineer includes:

  • Salary $170,000 - $200,000
  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and retirement options
