Solar Operations & Maintenance Technician, Level 2
Job Description:
- Responsible for performing advanced inspections, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting on solar energy systems
- Work independently and provide guidance to junior technicians to ensure safe and efficient operation of solar power plants
- Lead by example in promoting a safe working environment
- Perform comprehensive inspections of solar energy systems, including electrical and mechanical components
- Conduct advanced preventative maintenance tasks such as infrared thermography, insulation resistance testing, and IV curve tracing
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules
- Independently diagnose and troubleshoot system issues
- Utilize diagnostic tools and techniques to identify root causes
- Create and maintain detailed documentation of inspections, maintenance, and repairs with little oversight
- Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies
- Be able to travel on short notice and be available during non-traditional working hours; up to 50% travel required.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of experience in the solar industry or related field
- Demonstrated understanding of electrical systems, solar energy principles, and grid-tied systems
- Knowledge of Data Acquisition Systems preferred
- OSHA 30-hour and NFPA 70e certification preferred
- Familiar operating Drones for Aerial Thermographic purposes
- Familiar with the use of diagnostic tools such as I/V Curve Tracers, Meggers, and Isolation testers
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and lead by example when working with junior technicians
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
